Music
Now and then I use
Blip.fm to share music. |
Music is really important to me. I've got some music playing
whenever I get a chance to. I'm particularly interested in
music of the early 1980s.
It's tough wading through tons of formulaic product in
search of artistic musical expression. I've had to rely
heavily on college radio and other not-for-profit channels.
These days I mostly listen to unpopular artists in popular
genres -- though my last great obsession was with the
Squirrel Nut Zippers, popular artists in an unpopular
genre!
I think it's interesting to see the range of different
artists that individuals are interested in. All I've got here,
though, is a nonrepresentative sample: a very non-comprehensive
list of artists I like and who have webpages that I've managed
to stumble across. I've grouped them by the decade when they
started recording or the decade that was their heyday:
The 2000s
The 1990s
The 1980s
The 1970s
The 1960s

As a kid I played the piano and was heavily into classical
music, especially the works of
Beethoven, Bach, and ragtime composer
Scott Joplin.
