Apr. 27 (AP) — A bicycle rider was killed in San Francisco, the same day a huge Critical Mass event is happening to protest the death of another bicycle rider who was run over by a truck.
Witnesses say the 25-year-old woman was weaving in and out of traffic. Her handlebars apparently got hooked onto a pickup truck and her bike fell down. She was then run over by a garbage truck.

The tragic accident comes the same day bicyclists are riding through the streets in huge numbers.

They're upset over a court ruling last week, which dismissed the most serious charges against truck driver Ruben Espinosa in the November death of Chris Robertson.

Espinosa says he didn't see Robertson before he struck and killed him.

Critical Mass Protest

Police and commuters are experiencing gridlock downtown. The Critical Mass ride — which is held on the final Friday of every month — is a big one. It started at 5:30 at Justin Herman Plaza.
